| I've heard this early production set called all sorts of things, but Starburst is what Sarah Coventry called it. They look more like sunflowers to me! For some reason the center of the pin and the center of the earrings on these sets never quite matches. The photo, however, exagerates the color difference. I think this is caused by the two being slightly different thicknesses and refracting the light differently. Pin has a hook so that it can be used as a pendant if you choose. This set is in amazingly nice condition, clean, and with no plating damage. Pin measures approx 2 1/2" in diameter. Earrings are large - approx. 1 7/8" in diameter - with padded clip backs. Not sure when this was introduced, but the set was offered as a hostess gift #5010 in 1970. |
