We're not quite sure what the original function of this pretty little bowl was. It almost looks as though it would have had something else to go inside it, but we've not been able to find out what it would have been. A custard jug, perhaps? But wouldn't it look lovely piled high with strawberries at the breakfast table? Large spiders web inside of the bowl with a flowering leafy vine clinging to the rim. Base color is white, with with the interior blushed with pink tones. Outside of bowl is undecorated. Marked with the post war oval mark, Handpainted, Avon Ware, Made in England and the impressed word ENGLAND. Also marked with a small brown x that may be a painters mark. Excellent condition, with no chips or cracks. This design was originally made with a soft matte glaze, but this is the hard finish shiny glaze that came later (and that was much more durable, especially for pieces that would need to be washed.) Considerable very fine crazing, especially on the outside of the bowl, and a couple of small glaze flaws that have been present since the piece was made, but nothing that will mar your enjoyment of this delightful piece. Measures approximately 7 1/2 inches in diameter and 1 1/2 inches tall.
